The best enchiladas in town!! Calm atmosphere, pretty decorations. Honestly, I hate Mexican food. But after a friend highly recommended this place I had to try it out, best enchiladas I've ever had. I enjoyed their authentic salsa and broccoli and cheddar enchilada. Will definitely be going back.

Last week, after driving to several locations in attempt to have dinner, we ended up here, which is where we had initially thought would go to but was hesitant due to yelp review read about the salsa having olives. Another part of me was hesitant because I've known enchiladas to be dressed with too much sauce --I dislike soggy. So, we went and it was a short wait but ordered spirits as we waited to be seated. The white sangria was refreshing. Beef enchiladas - We would go back for because we loved the heat. Chicken enchiladas - were ok as they did not have as much heat as the beef. Chips and guacamole - We would pass on this next time since the dish already comes with the mediocre chips. It's quite unfortunate the chips are not homemade. Guac was good and tastes homemade. Salsa - Previous review was correct about it seeming as if it was bottled salsa, like Ol' Paso.

This was my second time visiting, and this time we just stopped in for nachos and sangria mid-afternoon. The green sangria was a nice touch for St. Paddy's Day. The homemade sangria was the bright spot to our visit. The nachos were bland and needed hot sauce for flavor. My sister thought the chicken tasted like it was from a can. Next time I go back, I will stick to the enchiladas, as that's what they are known for. Don't waste money on the nachos.

I wish this place was good. It is not. I want to give it one star but our service was acceptable and we didn't get sick or anything, it's just not at all good for the price. The enchiladas are exceptionally bland (even the purportedly spicy ones), the salsa is puzzling (super super sweet, with loads of beans and olives, tastes like maybe it's some kind of bad pasta sauce), and the chips were stale. I can't believe how much I spent on such a bland, pointless meal. You'd be better off at Taco Bell, and you're spending more than enough to eat at a quality restaurant instead.

I take my brother here every time he comes from out of town. He lives in Texas and refuses to eat any other Mexican food in South Dakota other than Mama Lada's. The atmosphere is unique and the service is always friendly. There isn't much variety but the food they do have will blow you away. Chicken enchiladas are where it's at though.

Absolutely avoid this place at all costs. If you go downstairs to the bathroom you will see why.... All of their food is made from cans. Nothing fresh at all, overpriced, bland, and plain out disgusting food. If you crave their flavor so bad... Go to nearest grocery store, buy the cheapest ingredients and make it yourself. It will taste better, and be less than half the price. Additionally the management is horrendous and doesn't know how to respond to an upset customer. One more thing.... They have olives in their "salsa", or as it should be called... canned tomato paste with drained canned nasty ingredients. I'm sorry to say if you actually like this place you have never had real food... Let alone real Mexican!

Limited menu but totally worth it! Everything comes out so fast you can actually have an incredibly meal over the lunch hour! And the food is amazing!

Went in because it's slightly off the main strip so it wasn't super busy. Was surprised at how small it was and menu limited to just a few things. Service was excellent, and food phenomenal. Not typical enchiladas but super yummy. May be best enchiladas I've ever had.

Mmmmmm! Beef enchilada and a glass of Five Rivers Pinot. Great ambiance, excellent service. My fav in town.

First of all, and most importantly, if you like enchiladas, you will love the food here. The biggest drawback to this place is the restroom is out the back door, down a flight of stairs, back into the building, and in an isolated part of the kitchen. It's tiny, with a door that latches with a hook. Kinda ghetto for a restaurant restroom. That said, pee at home and enjoy..

Very good food. If you like spicy go with the beef and if not go with the chicken. I have to try the shrimp sometime. Guac is good and the chips and salsa at lunch are a nice bonus. Excellent wait staff.

I love the chicken enchilada here. I am a regular. It's a locally owned business with very friendly service every time. It's a small venue, so you might want to arrive early to ensure you get a spot.

I was in town on business, and who would have thought that SD, of all places, would be where I find awe inspiring enchiladas. EAT HERE NOW!

Friendly, fast service from our waitress. Simple menu: chicken, beef or pork for your enchilada. Quaint outdoor seating on the sidewalk in downtown Sioux Falls. Complimentary chips & salsa while you wait (which was a VERY short wait - FAST service) Only drawback was not seeing the menu prices before ordering. The enchiladas seem a but overpriced for what you get - without rice or beans as a side or even an option. I didn't get a chance to try the sangria or wine - I will definitely be back!

Oh. Em. Gee. Hands down the best enchiladas I've ever had. The place is small and the menu is even smaller, but don't underestimate how delicious it really is. They only serve wine and enchiladas. I tried the red sangria, which tasted as close to Spanish Sangria without being in actual Spain. I got the beef and chicken enchiladas, which were both perfect. The beef was a tad spicy with a red sauce and the chicken was very creamy and mild with a verde sauce. Service is fast and they even let you choose a mini chocolate candy for a "dessert". Sangria, two enchiladas, and chips and guac all for $24 means I'll definitely be back. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is for the salsa: had olives and mushrooms in it. The taste was good, but not what I was looking for with my enchiladas. Also a great place to eat alone, which I did, because there is a small bar against a wall to enjoy a meal, but not take up a full table.

Killer salsa and chips! Had the beef- real great, if not a little cheesey. Hubby was a fan of his chicken one. Size was perfect! a 'half' order for one enchilada and a full order for two. Crazy adorable interior. Great location. Outdoor seating available. Service was friendly. Owner was absolutely great! Fun place. Wish I started coming here sooner!

This is a gem of a place that far exceeded my expectations for a Monday night dinner in Sioux Falls. Simple menu but you know that limited options means they're really good at what they do. Red or white sangria and beef, chicken or broccoli and cheese enchiladas, chips and salsa or guac all for $12. Not bad for a filling dinner. Oh and my favorite part is that you can get a "half order" of enchiladas (which means that you get one instead of two). Just the right size for me! And my second favorite part is that the check comes with a basket of treats - all you can eat mini candy bars!

They do one thing, and they do it right. If I am ever in Sioux Falls again, I will be going back.

Not very original Mexican food. I felt like the food may have been microwaved and chips were from from a Tostitos bag.

  • Nikki A.

This place is sad. I can make the same "enchilada's" at home, in my own microwave. The place is small and cute. I gave this place a chance...because my husband and I craved Mexican food and we were still on the lookout for a decent place, which South Dakota truly lacks....I am not one for Kraft cheese on all my Mexican dishes..very bland, boring and blah! Total turnoff to see the waitress behind the counter microwave our food...

Tasty Enchiladas??? Fruity Sangria? yeah, this is good stuff! I had the broccoli and cheese enchilada. I have no idea what type of cheese was in the enchilada but it was nice and oozy. yummy.. I'd have preferred more spice, but this is Sioux Falls..

The Staff is really good looking and funny. The food was great. I took mine to go. It looked like a great place to hang out though. I had a beef and a chicken enchilada. They where cheese, and spicy and flavorful. I don't know if they have any other food. But they do what they do well.

Very cute hole-in-the-wall place and friendly staff. I heard good things and really wanted to like it, but it is too expensive for not very interesting or authentic food. Flour tortillas for enchiladas? Olives in canned-tomato salsa? For 12-14 dollars a plate (the full order of two enchiladas) plus extra for (store-bought) chips and salsa, it's just not a good idea. It's not bad, but not very good either. Not sure why everyone raves about it...

I love Mama Lada's! The food is stellar and the space is awesome, especially in the summer time!

Mama's Ladas is an enchilada restaurant downtown Sioux Falls. It is different to say the least. It is quite small and sortof reminds me of a small coffee diner. There is a lot going on and it is kind of loud and cramped inside. When I first got there, there was nowhere to sit and there was maybe 10-12 customers in the place. I ended up sitting at the bar where I was back to back with another customer. The restaurant, as you can guess, consists of Enchiladas. I am not aware of other menu options but that seemed to be the gist of it. I ended up getting a Broccoli and Cheese enchilada and wisely only chose for 1 as that was a generous enough serving. In addition, I ordered a home-made Sangria which wasn't bad. There was multiple flavors of Sangria offered. Overall, the restaurant was good and the service was prompt. The seating sucked, especially for a Friday night. I wouldn't not try it though as the food was truly good. It was a unique dining experience from the typical Mexican restaurant fare and worth hitting up again.

Totally unimpressed. The place is cute, loved the decorations, however the food was not good. The only reason for the two stars is the beef enchiladas were pleasantly spicy. The food is microwaved, the chips are gross Tostito type tortilla chips. I ordered the half enchilada, which is just one enchilada that comes with only those gross chips, had to pay extra for salsa and guacamole. The enchiladas are made with flour tortillas, which makes for a soggy texture. The white sangria taste like it was made a few days ago and had a bitter fermented taste, couldn't even finish it. I don't live here, but if I did this would definitely not be a place I come back to.

I'll keep this short. Dining area is very small. Staff was very friendly. Menu is tiny...really only a few items..mainly Enchiladas. Salsa-I didn't care for it. It was pretty chunky and contained green olives which I love but not in my salsa. Now...the enchiladas. I ordered the Full order which is two enchiladas. I got one Chicken and one Spicy Beef. They were both outstanding and earn 5 stars!!! Their homemade guacamole was delicious also.

Nice place and atmosphere! Exposed brick interior, burnt orange duct work. The Enchiladas are awesome, and out to u fast! This is a great place for a quick lunch. Don't settle for a fast food joint... This place is so worth it! If you are lucky, u will find a parking space right in front. There is also outdoor seating when the weather is nice.

Great atmosphere, great salsa, friendly staff. Outside seating is wonderful, weather permitting. Showed up once this summer, ended up sitting right next to live music. Came for a quick meal, stayed for hours. The beef enchiladas are my favorite, they are a little spicier than the others.

The atmosphere is great. The staff is friendly, The food is simple and somewhat bland. Ordered the full enchiladas one beef, one chicken. For a restaurant specializing in enchiladas I expected something unique and flavorful. The salsa seemed like store bought with the addition of green olives. Giving three stars for atmosphere and staff.

My dad and I went here for lunch today and I'd have to say I was pleasantly surprised! They had good, quick service, and excellent food. The salsa was AMAZING!!! The food was at our table within a couple minutes of ordering. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend.

This place has the BEST enchiladas I have ever had, We go there atleast once a week and every single time the service and food are awesome.Thats what keeps us coming back and telling all of are friends about it. It is small but thet are expanding to the building next door and with the nice weather you can always sit outside.

Limited menu, but the enchiladas were good and inexpensive. The proprietor / server was quite friendly and interested in my Yelping.

The ambiance of this place filled with energy with a bit of eclecticness. It is definitely a place to visit if you want tasty enchiladas with the flare of unique. We got a good table, but it is small and could easy get crowded. Overall, a great downtown eatery.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
